Is It Time to Retire the Low-Carb Diet “Fad” | Marks Daily Apple

Sweden is a land of many wonders – most of which put the USA to shame. They've got fjords, ABBA, and caviar in a tube. And while Americans get arrested for things like DUIs and stealing socks from Walmart [10], Swedes get arrested for the more admirable feat of smuggling butter [11].

If you enjoy watching how a clinical study gets used and abused, this is one you’ll enjoy. There’s been a lot of smoke in the air recently about a Swedish study, which some claimed proved that low carb high fat diets don’t work. In this piece by Mark Sisson, he presents the analysis put forward by Denise Minger on why these claims are bogus – and not supported by the Swedish clinical study at all.

As you read her analysis, keep in mind that the low carb dieters in Sweden accounted for only 1/4 of the population at the most – and that was near the end of the study, in 2010.
