Sugar isn't just sweet, it's addictive. This episode explores the cycle of addiction that sugar causes in the brain, much in the same way as drugs and alcohol.Commentary:
This is the 4th video in the excellent video series: The Skinny on Obesity developed by the University of California TV channel (UCTV). Dr. Robert Lustig, Pediatric Endochrinologist – University of California, San Francisco asserts that a person doesn’t choose to become obese, but rather that obesity chooses the person. He goes into the hormone and brain function interaction that makes sugar and carbs addictive in the full sense of the word – no different than addiction to drugs or alcohol. Understanding the nature of this addiction and its causes are an important first step in taking corrective action.
