This an excellent testament to the effectiveness of the low carb diet. Christopher Gardner, Stanford University, conducted a professional clinical trial to compare several diets, including the low carb diet as developed by Dr. Atkins. Even though he was a vegetarian, he concluded that the low carb diet performed best in weight reduction and health improvement. At the time this was done, the low carb diet was criticized as a trend diet so he carefully worded his JAMA conclusions to posture that the low carb diet should take it’s place among the more established diets as an effective alternative.
