Low Carb Protein Shakes for Weight Loss

You just can’t beat freshly made Low Carb Protein Shakes, for a treat in the middle of the day, or even as meal substitutes. High protein low carb bars can also be a healthy snack, but  a shake offers quite a nice break in the day.  You can certainly purchase ready-made ones, but one done in your own kitchen, and fresh out of the blender, can’t be beat.  This is a video on how to whip up a banana shake.  You can certainly substitute whatever other fruit you’d prefer based on your needs for improving your health or losing weight.

Combine in a blender a frozen banana (broken up into pieces to blend more easily), one scoop (around 20 grams) of isolated whey protein*, and one cup of nonfat milk (or water, soy milk).   Blend for about 60 seconds at high speed until it is smooth and you’re done!

A shake like this can be made from almost any fruit.  Try it with strawberries, or strawberries and bananas, papaya, or even peaches.  Use your imagination.

*Isolated whey protein is a blend of proteins separated from whey, which is a by-product of the process used to make cheese.   Clinical studies have indicated that whey protein may be useful as an anti-inflammatory or anti-cancer food additive, but since the studies were based on experiments with rodents, such claims are considered speculative.
