How to Make Low Carb Power Bars – Paleo Style

The Paleolithic (Paleo) Diet is popular these days and is essentially a low carb diet as it relies on unrefined foods (hence no refined or simple carbohydrates).  Preferred  Paleo diet foods are considered to be high in good fats and protein, low in carbs, and particularly low in high glycemic carbs (the ones that raise insulin levels).  This video on how to make Paleo Low Carb Power Bars is therefore useful for anyone on a low carb diet or who just simply needs a low carb power bar.

The bar is technically classified as a high fat, high protein, and low carb energy (Paleo) bar.  The main ingredients are almond butter, desiccated coconut oil, organic wheat grass powder (to add alkalinity), nuts, vanilla, dark chocolate (70% chocolate), and raisins.    The bars are actually formed initially like a flapjack, then cut into bars and hardened in the refrigerator or freezer.  They are best stored in wax paper and kept cool as the coconut oil tends to allow the bars to break up in warmer temperatures.   You will need a blender of course to prepare the ingredients.  Other than that it is a simple recipe – throw it all together, blend, stir in liquids, combine it all together in a bowl and then form the  flapjacks/bars.

Enjoy…
