Eating sweets can make you drowsy due to increased insulin levels in the blood stream. High insulin levels remove blood sugar (glucose) from the blood stream leading to fatigue. Driving under the influence of sugar can therefore lead to sleepiness – a symptom I suffered from for years till I went on a low carb diet.
